All the pike I have caught are 100% wild and have bin in the same waters since the 70s with no stocking. 99% of tigers in pa are stocked as fingerlings there a rare find naturally. I'd say the big percentage of purebred are stocked too. There's probably some natural reproduction but there's so real way telling the stocks from wild as far as I know.

That is a nice picture. That is ashame what happened but still you had a awesome fight I am sure. I have yet to catch a Tarpon on a fly but have caught a few on spinning gear. I will never forget my largest was around 60 pds and I can still clearly remember it coming out of the water about 5 X. I will be on the beaches of Sanibel Island with my fly rod next week trying to make a few more memories..

Bill A

Thanks Semperfish; that's all I needed to know. The specific stream was not important to me. A number of tidal sections of tribs from the Delaware state line up to Trenton Falls are likely to support substantial numbers of these fish this year. Finding them in the non-tidal segments of these streams would have been very interesting, although it is also interesting that these fish have shown up already in Bucks Co t...

I have seen the Monocacy river in Maryland basically die below the City of Frederick over the last 35 years due to farming practices, feed lots, high density housing developments, and the amount of water the City of Frederick takes from the river every year. It was once a unbelievably vibrant fishery. Now it is like a dead river until the Double Pipe feeds in and the Double Pipe is in bad s...

There are some stripers in the shallows as of this week, but many more are still spending most of their time in 10-25 ft deep water. Large females are not abundant in the shallows, but if you find some mud flats these areas as of today were 1.5-2.0 degrees warmer than the rest of the river. Large females (40 inches plus) were present in those areas today in 2.5-3 ft of water. The cool weather may cause water temp...

Warm Water & Salt Water Fly-Fishing:: Nockamixon tiger muskies: NOW
The water is not too warm yet. If you go to Blue Marsh I recommend fishing any of the small indentations/inlets/coves (also true to a lesser extent at Nock). Blue Marsh Tigers are using these areas (or their entry points) at the moment. Net catches were poor outside of these types of coves on the main lake. Additionally, the Spring Creek and Tulpehocken arms were more productive than the main lake body, although we h...

Got into some largemouths at a family pond today with my kids and they were roaming in packs, something to see for sure and had a big female absolutely hammer a chartreuse clouser. And like a good big ole' girl she gave me a head shake and spit my fly out. They have an uncanny ability to spit hooks.

I'm pretty interested in catching a shad. My only suitable rod though is a 9 weight that's set up with an intermediate line. Is that going to get down fast enough?

I probably have some sinking tips that I can throw on there to help get the line down if not.

I was not fishing the SE, but fished some rivers in the South Central PA Region and one river fished great and the other two were so cold that what we mostly saw were trout in what is considered prime smallmouth water. I would guess that we are two weeks behind the seasonal norm and a month behind last year when we had super mild Winter and Spring.

Because of circumstances beyond our control (fishermen laid off or on reduced hours at work), the first week of June is available at the Darth Vader house at Pilot's Landing (the cliffs). I believe it is $650/person up to 6 for Saturday to Saturday. Bill Hayes will be there with the Flyswatter (22' Mako CC set up for fly), which he will run for @ $120 per person per day (limited to two fishermen)....
