I made it up to Presque Isle over the weekend and got in a little bass fishing in Misery Bay. The fishing was great, although the wind made it difficult. The fish were more than willing to take surface poppers, and some big fish at that.
There were, however, more turtles around than I have ever seen in one small area. Has anyone else been in that area and witnessed it? I wasn't permitted to take the camera out to get pictures of the turtles (due to dunking it at oil creek earlier this year), but there were turtles popping up every 40 feet or so. I saw sliders and the kind with the long necks and pointy noses (name eludes me at the moment) as two species I could get close to, but there were probable others. I even had one bump into my leg. It was a real spectacle to watch so many of them work the weedy shallows.

Is this the turtle? If so, it's an eastern spiny sofshell.

I used to have one of those as a pet but one of my alligator snapping turtles ate it :-o

That would be the one...they were everywhere in the water.

I hear presque Isle is a great fishery. Nice pics!!
