This weekend i gave warmwater fishing a try. Caught a lot of bluegills and a few crappies on nymphs.

i got a 10" bass on a size 14 beadhead nymph.
Is this unusual??

no, but under normal circumstances it's not a very effective way to fish for them unless we're talking about much bigger nymphs or buggers.

I use a size 12 brassie with white rubber legs and it nails them. If not, cover the same riffle with a streamer.

Small mouth eat much of the same diet as trout, especially larger trout.

On pine and the allegheny I like to use large hare's ear nymphs (6-12) and stonefly nymphs (2-8).
