Caught my first carp on a fly today! Caught it on a crayfish imitation. I fought this critter for over 30 min. Never really landed it; I was alone and had no net. Got it in to where I touched him though. He was huge. I estimate his lenght at 30+ inches and have no real idea of weight - but huge! He had me up and down the river, and for the first time in my fly fishing life I realized the importance of backing and a good drag.
It was an awesome experience; one I'll never forget. No wonder some folks target these fish.
