I had an orvis clearwater with an 8.5 flex that I loved. Anybody have anything with a warranty they are willing to part with?

I bought the 9ft 4wt 2 pc Sage FLI for just over $100. It's a great rod w/ warranty and probably has a similar action to an Orvis 8.5 flex. I bet you could find a new one for less than that if you did some online searching.

I have a Reddington RS4, 9' 4wt (2 pc) that I'd be willing to part with. Used 2 or 3 times and has lifetime warranty.

Jdaddy should still have a Cabelas LST 9', 4wt (4pc)

Rod warranties are typically only applicable to the original owner. If you buy a second hand rod and break it, don't be surprised if the manufacturer doesn't honor the warranty. They're under no obligation to do so, and frankly shouldn't.

I can't speak for all but most of the good ones that I have been affiliated with will take care of you.
If anyone wants the Scott I would be happy to keep in touch and send it back if there was ever a problem...

how is it fraud if a company chooses to stand behind their product whether it was the original or third owner? If a company were willing to do that for a second hand product, I'd be much more likely to choose their name over another down the road...

I have the warranty card for the Reddington. It's still not filled out and that should work.

If the company knowingly honors the warranty for a non-original owner, good for them. If they are deceived into honoring a warranty by an original owner who sold the rod and then filed a claim for the non-eligible second hand buyer, it's fraud. And like every other kind of fraud, it costs us all in the long run.

it sounds like a guy would be helping the new owner if there ever was a problem, but there is a downer in every crowd

Fool, I agree. Shebop - you are out of line. I am basing my suggestions on my lifelong relationship with Scott rods. I'll personally call the people I know there and it won't be a problem. You are out of line. It would cost them a fraction of the cost of a new rod to fix most problems and they would be happy to do that - for anyone! b/c the name of the game for them is marketing. The rod market is VERY competitive - customer service is the backbone of their existance at this point.

If you want to stay on your high horse and keep throwing the "fraud" card out there that is fine with me. I was just stating my experience in the buisiness. If someone choses to not believe me or doesn't want to do business based on that, fine with me...

My apologies. I didn't realize I was dealing with an industry big-shot. So in this scenario of yours, you'll call "the people you know there" and tell them up front that you sold the rod, but you'd like them to honor the waranty for the new owner?

You're right about one thing, though. The rod market IS competitive. And that's due in part to the sense of entitlement among anglers that these warranties have created.

I rocked a wiki on the new guy starting trouble already:

"She Bop" was the third commercially released solo single by American singer Cyndi Lauper.
The song was controversial, owing to lyrics that addressed m*sterb*tion. Part of the lyrics, "They say I better stop - or I'll go blind”

So, I guess he's just "jerking" us around....
