Catchingchrome was selling one. Hyde or Clacka, can't remember. He had an awesome price on it too.

Saw an advertisement in one of the rags and it would seem that Clacka is practically giving boats away right now.

J,
I wouldn't say they are giving them away because I just paid almost 10K for my new one. Although it was a custom model. I still have my old one which I will be posting for sale shortly. I have some serious interest from local guys so I'm going to give them a shot before listing it here.

Well see if I ever try to help you out again.

I was looking in one of the rags at B&N the other day and saw a big full page add for Hyde. $5995 boat, trailer, etc. Now I don't know length, storage, model, etc, but it seemed like a pretty fair deal to me. Had they deals that stabilize the person when standing and had seat. Other than that I am sure it was stripped down. I would imagine shipping would be $400-500 as well.

Edit: Found it. It's halfway down this page.

New 2011 Hyde Contender Drift Boat $5,995
October 13th, 2011

Can’t find just the perfect “Used Boat” that you are looking for? Have you considered New? You could own a 2011 Hyde Contender Drift Boat for about the same price as many Used drift boats and you can choose your own colors and configuration. For example, the boat shown here includes a front walk around storage box (with Hyde improved fiberglass boxes) with Tempress seat, walk around rowers storage box with low back rowers seat, rear walk around storage box with Tempress seat, front matching leg brace, rowers foot brace, floor anchor system, front leg brace, raised level floors for passenger safety and comfort, Hyde deluxe trailer, oars, and anchor! Check out this boat … you could own a 2011 model for the price of a late model used boat!!!

Double Edit: Hell, it looks like ClackaCrafts has one for $4995.

Again, basic model.

JDaddy,
Not sure what you meant by your first statement, but I do appreciate your post about me selling one. As for those models, they are pretty basic boats and are decent if you are looking for a basic model. The costs really step up when you look at the next stage of boats. With the entry line boats you get everything you need but they skimp on alot of stuff, fit and finish, oars etc. Don't get me wrong I have rowed both of them and they are OK. If I was looking for a boat I would drop the 5K-6K in a good used one and get a better model. As for shipping you are looking at $1000-$1200 minimum. That was a quote directly from Clackacraft to SEPA. That's why I am picking mine up out there. If it was only 400-500 I'd have it shipped in a heartbeat.

The shipping is killer. I think Brandon called Hyde and they wanted 1900 to ship and said that they wouldn't send the boat until spring or when they had a full trailer headed east.

Yep, that kills the deal on buying one generally. $1900 shipping on a $6000 boat is crazy. Like I said I'm driving out to get mine with TDB we can use it for a week on the best water in the US and then drive home with it. I can daisy chain two drift boats at once so if someone wants one delivered back to SEPA, I'll do it for $1000! :)

$1900 is crazy. Hell you can ship an individual car for a fair amount less than that. This gives me an idea.

+1

It would be more economical to drive out there, pick it up, and drive home, not including the cost of lost work, etc.

It is 4350 miles from Idaho Falls to York, PA where I live and I was figuring no matter what vehicle you choose to take as the tow vehicle it is very doubtful anyone will be getting more than 20 mpg. So figure at least $3.50 p/gallon X 217.5 gallons = $$761.25 just for the gas. Then add at least two, maybe three, nights at a motel each way and you can add another $280 - $420 and you are up to $1041, then add at least two meals a day for another $80 and the total is $1121. Then of course there are some tolls to deal with, snacks, wear and tear on your tires and vehicle in general. Are you going to blow 4 - 6 days of your two week vacation dragging a drift boat all over the west and then back to PA too?

Maybe some guys think saving a couple hundred is worth it but when you look at all the money and time you are going to have to spend you might agree that $1200 that the seller charges is a deal.

BTW when I bought my 1998 Hyde in October 1999 I paid $500 for freight and the driver gave me one of those big hunking anchors with the 1" diameter rods welded onto it and a 20# pyramid anchor. Hydes rule!

wbranch, I agree completely. however, if you want to make a trip out west and have the time, say retired or RV folks, it kind of pays for the trip.

How u doing Jdaddy? Ever get to read any of those FF magazines?

I agree with your comment. If you are retired and have the wherewithal to spend on gas and lodging, and can devote at least a month to your trip, it might be worthwhile. I on the other hand do it a little differently; I bought a Creek Company ODC 816 about nine years ago and had it shipped directly to Montana to the outfitter where I stay. Now when I go out for my annual two weeks I have a boat there and in half an hour I'm floating my and it only costs me the modest sum that I give the fellow who manages the operation who graciously stores my boat for me.

We need to hook-up some weekday in 2012 for a float on the main stem.

PS - I also keep a Bucks Bag Bronco up at my cabin for when I don't want to take the Hyde out.

West Branch,
I have a Creek Company ODC 916,it seemed like a great idea when I bought it,only been out on a pond in the Poconos.I have yet to float the river, I bought its for floating the Lehigh River.PITA gettin a person to shuttle or find a shuttle . If I were to buy a drift boat it would be a ClackaCraft or next a Hyde hands down these are the two best boats made, there are other aluminum boats that heavy an durable, but i have done a few floats in heavier boats an when the water was low it was really a PITA struggling to drag a boat through shallow water
The Clacka and hydes were really light for thier sizes and their bells an whistles suit me.
