Looking to buy a 1494 1/2 for my fiberglass Eagle Claw. Preferably good condition. Looking to drop $20-25. PM me with a pic and let me know if you have one for sale...
Gonna string it up with 5DT line, so I'm thinking the 1494 1/2 would be a better choice over the 1494.

You mean you don't think the 1494 would be big enough? I have a 1494 spooled w/ 6wt, dude.

Just basing it off of online research
Is that 6WF or 6DT? DT takes up more room, no?

It's WF on the Medalist. I only have one DT line and its 5 wt.
I have to get a new reel foot for it, but someone just posted a link in the gear section to a website that sells parts. I can get the part I need for $5! Another reel you could look for is an old Martin 61. I have one on my Fenwick and I love it. It's just so loud haha!

a DT5 will fit on a 1494, I use a DT6 on a 1494 with no problem and plenty of backing. Actually, just looked, I've got a WF7 loaded on one with a good amount of backing!
crap, there were 6 or 7 of them for sale at the cabin fever show a couple weeks ago, I didn't buy any though, have enough. I'll keep my eyes out for ya though in case you strike out here.

'Purciate it. Good to know a 5DT will fit on a 1494. I really want to put a "classic" reel on my not-so-classic Eagle Claw rod just to give the overall "classic" look

Nice reels on that site BH2...
I scored a 1494 tonight on Ebay for $19.99. The search is over!

I have had DT-5's on 1494s.
But some DT-5 lines are 80 feet and others are 90, and some are skinnier than others. 90 ft plus backing with a DT-5 may be a stretch on a 1494 depending on the line. I would put the line on first, then see how much backing you get, then reverse. Not a bad procedure with any new reel.
