Canon SLR Digital Camera (my 2nd most important tool for fishing outings)

Due to a recent upgrade, I am selling my camera that I have had lots of fun with while fishing and hiking. It's a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, an SLR camera with 18-55mm lens and 4 GB Sandisk Ultra III Compact Flash card included (a very fast, high quality card).

The camera is in great shape physically, and works as perfectly a the day I got it. I believe it retailed for $900. The 4GB memory Card currently goes for about $35 on Amazon. I am asking $425 for everything.

This is actually the camera and lens I used to shoot the picture of Spring Creek that won 1st place in the 2009 photo contest. Some type of irrational reasoning might conclude that the new owner would be destined to win the 2010 photo contest! It also works wonders when combined with a polarizer filter on the lens, with the same results in photos that polarized glasses do for our eyes. I'd say it's the second most important tool for me to bring when I go fishing, right after my fly rod. Sometimes I get more in a photography mood when the fishing is slow, and this type of camera has significant advantages over typical point-and-shoot consumer models, even just in full auto model.

I've read a few guys on the forum talk about possibly making the move to the next level with an SLR camera. The one downside is that they are expensive. I was thinking this could be an opportunity to make it work, so decided to list it here.

Sorry Tom, don't have an external flash to sell.

I need to make a correction: the Compact Flash memory card with my camera is a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card, not Ultra. The Extreme III is a step up from the Ultra line. What this means is a fast card can allow the camera's burst mode function to work well, taking many pictures in just a few seconds without the card pausing to catch up.

What are you upgrading to , I am thinking about getting a Canon 5D mark ll. If I upgrade to that I will sell my 30D.

Also thought about the 7D as a cheaper option, also because of the new metering and newer style AF. Even though it is still an APS-C sensor I've seen good results.

I'll probably go through B&H PHOTO.

I was wondering what you finally bought Tom. I see you got a Canon. I assume for the video, partly. Nikons, Canons can't go wrong with either brand.

Actually I picked a Canon 450D rather than the t1i because I already shoot video. I needed a still camera and the extra 300 bucks wasn't worth it for me. I certainly wasn't even considering a couple thousand dollar one.

BTW I have heard some very good things about the 5DII from another video guy I used to work with. But he doesn't use the video for work either.

Yeah, I keep trying to take it off my tax money list, but it keeps coming back. I'm trying to force myself not to buy it.

I thought I'd bump this one up to give it another go before I try Craigslist and eBay. Anyone interested?

I never had any protection plan. I'm sure there are some third party plans you can buy online for just about any electronics.

I know it's a long shot, but do you still have it? And how many clicks on it?

Nope, I sold it a few months ago on craigslist. Good luck in your search.
