Neat!
I've always been fascinated by the color patterns on golden stones' wing cases and thorax. Although these two came from streams not that far apart, their color patterns are decidedly different. The upper one posted by Sandfly looks more typical of what I seem to see on most stones.

Golden stones are real tough to get an exact ID on.
The name golden stone itself is synonymous with the Perlidae family. Meaning, all Perlidae's are pretty much always called golden stones, and all golden stones fall within that family. But there are 18 different genera, and upwards of 50 species. They are typically found together in the same locations with similar habits. But the markings do vary by species, and are fairly consistent within a species. Sandfly's ID is about as good as I could do. He gives the family-genus, which narrows it down to 15 species.

The goldens on the yellowstone largely resemble sandfly's pic. I am with Dave... Always enjoyed the patterns on goldens.

I like that pattern. I tie mine with a woven body.
