For all the rod building guys out there, what are some of your favorite Rod Building books. I am building a rod this month, and it will be my first. I joined some forums, but I would like to have a book that has explanations, and step by step writeups.

Thanks in advance
Ty

Dear Native, Rod building is a wonderful hobby to expand your passion for fly fishing. It is relatively easy, so don't make it complicated. There are some tricks to the trade so you may want to ask an experienced rod maker, but you can learn the basics from any of the books. I have used "Custom Rod Building" by Dale Clemens as a good basic book. I am sure there are many others.

One could easily get by with just the info found with a google search.

Seriously, there is that much info available on the web. Even 10 years ago when I built my first rod, all I used were intertnet sources.

Native, The book Rod Building Guide by Tom Kirkman will be the best $15 you'll spend. As others have said, the internet has some pretty good sources also. Try googling mudhole, they deal in rod building supplies. Request one of they're catalogs. It has some pretty good step by step basics in it.
