Just got an open invitation to stay at a friends cabin in Wyoming County. The cabin is in Mehoopany. Has anybody fished up there? Whats it like. I have never fished that part of the state so any info would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

i fished it many years ago. its a decent stream with lots of pools and riffles. its your basic mountain freestone. the lower section gets stocked and up in the game lands it is decent native brookie fishing. you should have a good time. it does have lots of rattlesnakes and bears though.

I've fished it as well and enjoyed it, redrock is right about the natives. Some spots in that area were washed out bad last fall with flooding so just take that into consideration, especially if you are heading up into the gamelands. If it's anything like Bowmans it has been rearranged significantly.
Both Bowmans and Meehoopany are affected by high acidity I've had days when you can't find a fish and others closer to stocking dates that were quite memorable.

Yea, Bowman's, Mehoopany, and Meshoppen creek... along with all the other streams in the area took a bad hit from the flooding last year. My son and I had a look at them. Some places we use to fish are not recognizable.
Kind of sad, as I was practically raised right across the road from Bowman's and lived next to it until I was almost 40. Cut my teeth fly fishing on those streams long before I could drive. Hopefully, Mother Nature will be kind for many years and help restore them... at least a little bit.
