Going to an undisclosed location today for some wild brookies. What would be my best bet to use there? I read some posts of people using dries and catching them in winter, while other people used other methods. Which one would give me my greatest chance for catching wild brook trout in the winter? Thanks in advance and happy new years to all!

Fish a fairly large (about an inch in length) nymph or wet fly with some flash and bright colors through the deepest runs in the stream. Don't hesitate to impart some movement in the fly. Brookie fishing should be good due to warmer temps lately. Good luck Gaeron.

I would go with micro buggers or throw a tandem of copper johns and twitch/stream them

I fished for brookies yesterday. The bites were really light on nymphs. Then the sun warmed the shallow water and turned on the bugs and the fish. Caught a bunch on top.
