While I love the native brookies, and they are beautiful, I actually think that overall the wild brown tends to be a prettier fish. I say this because there are so many different possible spot patterns on the wild browns. I also like the fact that browns grow larger. What are your thoughts?

Personally I love wild bows. Weird I know, but when I catch a little wild bow w/ the par marks still on them, I really like how they look.

Brookies can look REALLY cool, especially when their orange gets really deep and bright.

Would rather catch wild browns and wild bows then native brooks.

Browns grow larger. The majority of our most fertile trout streams in the state are brown trout streams. You could argue that brown trout offer more sport, as far as selectivity and forcing you to learn the ecosystem, feeding behavior, and all that fun.

So I definitely have a place in my heart for them.

However, I feel most at home deep in the woods somewhere on some stream that few have heard of and most would not even think about fishing. In beauty, the fish are beautiful and all, but to me it's more about the place than the fish itself. And no fish inhabits more beautiful places than the brook trout.

Both have their place. The brook trout's place is nearer and dearer to my heart.

Brookies I enjoy catching fish native tO my area. But as far as looks I love the way they all look that is why I no longer fish for stocked trout.

And as pcray stated being in a place where most people would not dare to hike. I love being in the middle of nowhere, with no people but those I walked in with.

Yeah, based on appearance and where they're generally found (I like small freestoners) Brooks are tops on my list...then Browns, then Bows, although admittedly I have little experience with Wild Bows. Only have caught a few random ones in a few streams that are otherwise dominated by Browns. I have a soft spot for the fact that Brookies are native to the area too.

That said, Browns are growing on me quite a bit. I'm especially intrigued by the darker colored ones in forested freestoners, and also by how big they sometimes manage to get in such small stream environments.

I really enjoy fishing the transition area on Brookie/Brown streams where both are present...always like the little bit a surprise involved each time you hook up.

I fish nearby C&R wild trout stream that has both native brookies and wild browns. They are both VERY colorful but IMO God really knew what he was doing when he painted the colors on our brook trout. They are my choice.

I think even your run of the mill native brookie is a step above the brown in the way of looks, then when they really strut their stuff during the fall, no comparison at all. But for fishing, I enjoy the challenge of stalking wild Letort browns that much more.

Nah, brookies hands-down for me. They're native, they're pretty, mostly they're hard to get to and always worth the effort. Yep, gulfgrey. sort of like pretty women.

Brookies: been here since whoknowswhen, colorful, aggressive feeders for longer fishing days, often live in beautiful places. I do like wild browns in remote steep streams, too.

Browns are by far the prettiest, biggest, toughest and smartest of them all. I never found brook trout very appealing. Wild bows are few and far apart and probably the most ' plain jane' of the three. That's just my opinion, but any wild trout is a good trout.
