Hello everyone! I am going camping for a few days in Elizabeth Town near Hershey the weekend of August 11th. Any suggestions where to maybe wet a fly? I will have my 14 year old son with me and I didn't think the Letort would be a great experience for him (at his level and probably mine as well!). Its a family weekend. We will be doing Hershey on Friday but Saturday maybe open for some new water if anything is fairly close! Let me know and thank you in advance.

Considering how hot it's been trout fishing opportunities will be limited. Might try the Quittapahilla in Annville just East of Hershey, Clarks Creek north of Harrisburg or the Yellow Breeches at Allenberry in Boiling Springs. Letort will certainly be cold enough but very challenging. If you go to the YB at least drive over and check it out. Other possibilities include Swatara Creek around Middletown/Hershey for warm water species including smallmouths. You also have the Susquehanna river right there.

+1 to McSneek's suggestions. For trout your closest decent, fishable option is probably the Quittie. I'm certain it's cold enough, even on hot days as it has very strong limestone influences. It got hit pretty hard in the floods last Fall, but it's had several stockings since then, so I'm sure there's some fish there. Can be tough fishing during the middle of the day, but there's usually some risers to be found in the morning and evening. There's a DHALO stretch in Annville with good access.
For WW species, the Swatara in Hummelstown/Middletown is a good option. There's a nature trail park on the west end of Htown with good access along the stream, and there's a lot at the Duke St. bridge. Smallies, Fallfish, and lots of eager panfish...would be a good option for a younger angler.

For trout, I would recommend the Quittie. Just drive down 422 into Annville, go through the "square" and about 2 or 3 blocks on your right you will see a green street sign "Quitte Park" . DHALO section and very easy access. Use a green weenie. Good Luck BTW this is only 10 min. from Hershey.

If you go fishing, I would suggest early morning, if you can get your teenage son up. Ha Ha.
From dawn until 9:00 is a nice time to be out and the water will be at its coolest for the fish. Terestrials are a good bet if you want to fish dries and would give you the option of a dry/dropper combo if you want. Unfortunately, there are no fly shops near Hershey so be sure to have what you need. Bass Pro Shop in Harrisburg would be the closest if you need anything once you are here. The Quitty is not hard to find. Just go East on 422 and after you pass the Wal-Mart, you will actually drive over the stream. The next traffic light after Wal-Mart will be a few miles and that will be the square. Look to the right after the store fronts for the road into the park that Biggie mentioned. The DHALO section runs upstream to a bridge and downstream to another bridge. Clark's creek is really nice and is off rt 322 West (North) from Harrisburg, near the Town of Dauphin. The only negative is it is a bit of a drive and getting off 322 and to the stream might be a little confusing. At least it was to me the first time I went there. Have Fun, Shock

I used to live in E-town, and I'm pretty sure the closest trouting was at Donegal Creek. Temps should be ok this time of year too.
