This Saturday morning I'll be stuck in Dushore till about 1pm. I'll be staying at a B&B on S. German St and may very well not have access to a car. Looked on google maps, I'll be w/in walking distance of the Little Loyalsock. Is that stream even worth trying this time of year? Are there trout in it? Its ATW.

I'm open to ideas where I could attempt locating some trout.

I would say no, but take a temp and go for it. There are loads of streams nearby if you can get someone to take you to them. Fifhing the mid-day hours this time of the year is generally a waste of time and energy, but if it's overcast or rainy...

Well, I'll probably start at first light and fish until 1pm or so (depending on how far I have to walk).

I see on google maps that the Little Sock splits a whole bunch around Dushore, or has streams flowing into it. Any suggestions are helpfull. Are there wild fish in that stream at all, or will I be fishing for left over stockies?

If it were 1980 instead of 2012 I would tell you that you would probably be hard pressed to find many wild or stocked trout as the stream used to warm up. Black Creek, a trib to Ltl Loyalsock had some wild browns in its lower end, but posting was getting to be a problem at that time. Can't say anything about that 32 yrs later. I just don't know. My favorite trib to Ltl Loyalsock was Mill Ck, just above Forksville. Excellent population of wild trout.

I fished noon branch, all the way up brians run/branch on saturday ( a ridge over from mill ).

Nice little stream, good populations, but I was literally casting over seismic ( spelling ) cabling all the way up the stream. I literally draped my tippet on one cast over the cord which itself was draped over a nice waterfall plunge pool.

Black Creek goes through my brother in law's property. I'll be at his house later, so I'll explore that creek. I was there in April and didn't move any fish, but water was really cold and low, and the suspicion was they may have been down in the Lil Sock. Since then my B.i.L. has said he's seen fish in BC.

Temp wise, I looked at the forecast, its going to be dropping into the upper 40s at night later on this week. That sounds promising. Hopefully some rain moves in.

Now....what if you had access to a vehicle? Where would you send me? (PMs are cool if no one wants to SB). I have a few hours to make a nice morning of it, so I'm trying to do this right! I've swung and missed too many times in this region of the state.

Regarding Black Creek, it has temperature characteristics that are the reverse of the more typical stream in Pa. It is warmer in the headwaters and cools in a downstream direction. The wild trout population is much better downstream within a couple of miles of the Ltl Sock.

Thanks Mike. I think my BIL's property is only about 3 miles from the Lil Sock.

Freestoned would probably have the best ideas for you, but I can tell you my roomate had success only where cooler tribs came in 2 weekends ago.

I already PMed Freestoned. He's been very helpful! I was really curious if the Little Sock holds fish year round. Sounds like it does. Rain this week and cooler temps, I may get lucky!

But hey, any times I can fish the Endless Mountains, I'm lucky.

Freestoned has given me craptons of info (if I can get to the streams!), so I thank him. I can't wait to get into the woods and do some fishing. I'll post some pictures and whatnot when I get home on Sunday. Thanks for all the help!
