What is the best place to stay at state college? Not the best place to drink. My wife has to attend a function there and wants a nice place and hopefully a golf course to spend a weekend at.

Bruno, we had to find a place to eat after covering a news story in State College. We were staying in some dive up off 322 and it was late so we knew if we went to the hotel first we wouldn't food worthy of having the boss pay for it. We walked into the Nittany Lion Inn just as it was closing and they made us an amazing meal anyway. We were the only people there and they treated us like celebrities. My brother in law had his wedding reception there and stayed the night and they still talk about how nice it was. You are walking distance to anything else you might want to do to kill some time as well.
http://www.nittanylioninn.psu.edu/ ...that's my recommendation. edit: I don't golf so...

Bruno - This is the best option. It's incredible, but it ain't gonna be cheap.

I haven't stayed at Toftrees for a few years but it was always nice when I did. Great golf course, decent restaurant or two on the premises. Depending on time of year, they have a nice pool too. For what you're looking for I would check them out. Close to Spring Creek.

i would agree with toftrees...cause of the golf.
FYI toftrees is managed by shaner hotel group. the same shaner, but different company name, as...... http://www.centredaily.com/2012/02/15 ... uy-cerro-metals-site.html

Comfort Inn
N. Atherton Ave. Not too expensive and clean, stayed there on several occasions.

I used to work at Toftrees Golf Course. It was my first job out of high school. Now I am a golf course superintendent in the upstate NY area. Toftrees is a great course. You are within a 5 to 10 minute drive to Spring Creek, 15 to 20 minutes to Fisherman's Paradice, and 25 to 35 minutes to Big Fishing Creek. I stay at the Nittany Lion Inn each year for a conference. The prices are reasonable there as well. I am not sure when you are planning on going to State College, but I am sure you can get a good rate at Toftrees and a round of golf.
