Hi everyone,

I am new here but thought I would introduce myself. I have been a bass fisherman for the better part of 25 years in NEPA and within the last two years have taken up fly fishing as well. I would consider myself decent I guess, but look forward to learning a lot from many of you. I fish local waters near me like the Lackawaxen, Lackawanna, etc. but am always up for some tips/tricks to improve my catch rate and to find new waters to fish. Fly fishing is quite a bit different from what I am used to with bass fishing. There are no high pressure stakes like in tournament fishing, and I think that I connect with that solitude on the water away from all of the fast paced power fishing involved with baitcasting/spinning for bass.

Well, that's my intro...I look forward to learning from many of you and thanks for taking the time to read my first post! Have a great weekend.

If you haven't tried it already, you should fly fish for bass. Great fun.

Welcome to the jungle!

I'm a NEPA'er as well. Just in from fishing the South Branch of the Tunnhanock Creek. Got 2, missed 3......

Give a holler if you want to fish locally.

I would couple the already recognized distinction betweeen other forms of fishing and fly fishing with a desire to slow things down, make them mental enjoy your surroundings.

I couldn't care less how one likes to fish, but have always been more intrigued by the typical fly fishing locations more so than the typical bass location.

I like streams, and though bass sometimes occupy rivers and larger streams, they are most plentiful in slower, deeper and sometime still waters.

Enjoy both, if you still can.

Those bass feel a lot bigger on a fly rod! Seriously, welcome to the board. As a kind of newcomer (about 6 years) to fly fishing, you will learn a LOT from the guys on this board. You will discover quickly that the fine folks here are full of good information, and are willing to share their knowledge.

Never fear. People are trying to push that agenda in fly fishing as well. If you have some Loomis sponser remember they make fly rods too!

Dont toss all the bass knowledge out the window. Streamers relate to spinnerbaits when it comes to fish aggression.
