A poster said: "Another sign that spring is here? Mosquitos. God eaten up this evening."

I have 2 suggestions, both of which work for me. One is Vitamin B. Actually this works for my whole family, and maybe its effectiveness has something to do with your gene pool. My kids have been at swimming parties where everyone else got bitten, but not them.

The other is a solar battery gadget from Wm. Joseph that emits a specific high frequency buzz. I can still hear it, but it is at the edge of a human's audible range. The concept is that only female mosquitos with fertilized eggs do the biting, because they need the protein for the little ones. What annoys the females are horny males that end up disrupting the mother-to-be's foraging. So the frequency of the gadget simulates the sound of a horny male skeeter.

I am in the rarity of people who aren't effected by the bite. No red ichy bump for me. If I do, it's only for sbout a day.

I used to, but not in the past couple years. I also don't get bit very often.

Not sure if there's any scientific data supporting the garlic claim, but it seems to work for me. I still get bit, but not nearly as much as I use to. Have also tried the dryer sheet, especially in warm water situations where the skeeters are relentless. Seemed to help.

Dear Les,

Drink more, hurt less.

If that ain't irrefutable scientific evidence I don't know what is?

Yes +1 for a thermacell.

You can watch the skeeters hover 5 ft from your face unable to get any closer a must have in the spring turkey woods.

I'm interested in the Thermacell stuff. Looking on ebay, there seems to be adapters and such to acquire certain parts for cheaper than they would market.

The research thusfar seems to say that they work wonderfully, but burn out after 9 hours. I'm guessing each strip then lasts about 3, and the butane lasts for 9.
