from the looks of the webcam, doesn't look like they really got much rain to effect the streams.

All over that site. Hoping there's still plenty of salmon left in the lake to run in 3 weeks when I get there. If not then the steelhead and browns should keep me busy. It sounds like this year is nothing short of fantastic in terms of numbers of fish. The charters are still doing well on the lake, so that bodes well for other strong run or two.

Hopefully Erie is similar this year.

Barely got any significant rain to raise the creeks.
East side is a waste until more fish come in.
Ok numbers in Elk and Walnut, still gonna be at least a week or two before anysubstantial drive will be "worth it"

I had a bad feeling about that, the forecasted rain dropped from one to two inches a few days ago, to barely half an inch this morning. No matter, have my last bass tournament of the year this weekend, and October 6 is my first Erie trip of the season.

In the meantime, plannin a Gander Mountain run tonight, then doing some tying tonight, anyone care to share some hot steelhead flies?

That was a rather wimpy rain event.

I saw that. The official weather report went something like this. The people in Eastern PA suck so bad that they pulled the much anticipated rain away from the Erie tribs.

Looks like some precipitation over the next day or two, but nothing major. It will probably be more than what they were supposed to get this past time though!

Oh, and I also see the lake temp hit 68 today. Starting to sound like steel!!

I've been told/ heard a few times before that the water temperature is more important than the flow/ height of the water for steel head runs.. I'm no scientist though, so not sure..

There is truth to that, except...some of the small creeks are not even flowing to the lake because there has been so little rain this summer. So, temperature absolutely matters, but there does have to be enough water for the fish to swim through if they are going to make a run.

Have a friend fishing Walnut as we speak. Landed a few and said there's a good amount of fish down low on Walnut. I wouldn't fish the circus, but it looks like the fish are ready to go. Water temp is dipping. Any amount of rain to raise the levels will get a run going soon IMO.
