I'm strongly considering jumping ship from scientific angler to a yet to be named brand. I could use some reviews from others.

Fenwick makes super tough tippets. I just started messing with maxima and really like it for leader construction.

Drennan makes the strongest tippet out there. I use 6lb. in NY and routinely land salmon over 20 lbs. using the stuff. Locally I use 3lb. Drennan for most nymphing with good results. BTW it is floro.

I usually buy Rio but SA is my second preference. Usually can find one of these two in most shops. I've had good luck with most brands actually.

avoid Umpqua.

I've heard good things about Stroft, so I picked up a few spools, but haven't gotten the chance to use it yet. It's pricey, but on the average .001" thinner than other tippet of the same strength. fwiw, it also comes in 1/2 sizes, like 5.5X.

Drennan is good stuff however its also really thick stuff. There 3lb is the diameter of 6 or 7 lb Rio... I had a chart on my computer but there is a lot to compare besides the lb test

I only use Stroft but it's hard to get and I will use Orvis super strong when I can't get Stroft.

Looking like Maxima and Rio in the lead. You see the thing is that I've found scientific angler to slip where I have a knot. I understand a knot is a potential point of failure but I just can't see a knot slipping as much as I have seen with this brand.
