Is still out there somewhere, waiting to be caught…..
We had a cold Saturday morning on McMichael’s Creek , having what turned into a min-jam. Dan (Moonbeam), Tom (Kyloe) and I drove down from Scranton in the chill of the morning to meet with Ed (Heritage Angler) and George (Foxgap239). After a strategy session imparted by our fearless leader, Ed, we split up and headed to the appointed sections of the cold, clear water. Cast after cast arched over the water, as our feathery creations sought to cause the wiley foe to become hooked on the sharp point hidden in the feathers that adorned the end of our tippets. We threw egg imitations, bead head nymphs of various types, and a myriad of other flies. Alas, the fish were smarter than we were. Guides were cleared of ice after every fourth cast, sometimes good naturedly, sometimes with a curse. We waded, we walked, I fell (on the shore) and still no trout come to our lines. We were joined by the Little Lehigh, who also flailed the water to no avail. (I think that once you hit six PAFFF members fishing one stream, it qualifies as a mini-jam?) We also met another PAFFF member and I’ll be darned if I can remember his name. Sorry! But, hey, we had a good time shooting the bull, casting, casting, casting, and getting cold feet! Sadly, we had to head back to Northeast PA early this day, but Heritage Angler and Foxgap239 were hanging in on the stream, hoping that the stone-flies that were beginning to slowly show, would bring the trout out of hiding. I hope their luck improved after we left. Already looking forward to the next time I can get on the water!

It can be a tough time of the year to catch trout. Just remember the best is yet to come! WTT

Dave - After you guys left, the stoneflies were skittering all over the place.
Fox saw a riser in a pile of brush, but it was a really tough cast. He got snagged, and had to move up to the brush pile to get untangled. Looking at the situation, he decided not to try again, and said "Your turn". I got snagged just like he did, and had to sneak up to the brush pile to get my fly free. While I was that close, I decided to try again, and hooked an even bigger branch. I yanked the leader off in disgust, and walked away. When I looked at the end of my tippet, the fly was still there! After all that commotion, that fish had the audacity to rise again. It's like he was laughing at us. His location required me to cast the fly over a 4' pile of brush, into a small pocket about 3' wide, just on the other side. It was like steel cage match wrestling. He lost.

Soooooo There are fish somewhere in that stream........
Glad someone got one. Sounds like it would have been a lot of fun watching you guys try to get to that one. Dave

Technically HA hovered in and stole my fish!!!!!!!!!!! Then had the stones to refer to me as "skunkie". The man is truly cold! LMAO
Let me tell more of the story which Mr. HA left out. After I got stuck in the bush and retrieved my fly, HA moved in once we saw the fish rise again. HA pretty much had the same luck I had and got stuck in the same set of branches. He went and got his out but stayed there and watched the fish rise yet again. So he casts and maybe on the third cast he gets stuck again in the same branches. He turns towards me and starts to wade out of the stream and pulls his rod like a madman to snap the fly off in frustration. We hear this snap and I start laughing only to hear him say "lookie here". The damn fly didn't break off after all and he went back in and used that "throw-away" fly to catch the little (and I do mean little) fish! Of course, it was 10 inches bigger than any fish I got that day!

Funny how a little aroma can cloud someone's memory.

The man is just frigid! If you fish with this man, watch your risers!

by Heritage-Angler on 2012/3/12 9:01:24 Funny how a little aroma can cloud someone's memory. The tales get better as time wears on.... Have to admit that we could have made that image a patch and all worn it on our vests after Sat.
