I have been debating over the past year to post my property, because of a few losers. I have had people yell at my daughter for throwing rocks in the stream, or the dogs playing in the stream. Or the kids fishing with bobbers and worms being told the cops could get them for fishing like that. My final straw was and is the birth of my 7th month old daughter. People have no respect or manners, my wife with my youngest never get the door opened for her, people rush to beat her in line. Taking the parents parking when they have no kids. And the best a lady putting a gucci bag on a seat so my wife and child had no place to sit.
So I asked myself why does anyone deserve to fish MY property that I work for and pay for when everyone acts like they deserve an award in life and not work for anything in life. Just my Rant for the day.. of course people can fish my property if I deem them not to be an A-Hole.

Sorry that people get so self absorbed or feel entitled that they forced you into this. One would hope it sends a message but I doubt the A-holes could even begin to get it.
At least we on this board should take heed although I imagine most of our PAFF brethen treat people and their property with respect.

Fox you would like to think that FFmen are just a bit above the normal type of people who fish. But I saw an exception last week at Valley. Two guys talking in the parking lot after fishing and there must have been 20 very loud Fbombs exchanged. I'm no prude and when I was in the Navy at dinner I thought saying *OOPS* was just another word for "please". But in a very public place where there are hikers and moms pushing strollers? Please..there is a time and a place IMHO.

Fade, I couldn't agree more. The way people talk and act today is embarrassing. I apologize for veering a little off course on this thread but where did "respect" go. I mean I live in development in NE Philly and ask when did walking down the middle of the street and not moving for a car become fashion for today's youth? Chef, like I said sorry but I guess you got me ranting now.

Sorry for getting you ranting, mine was just a pissed off thing in general. Last year when the guy told my daughter the cops would get her for fishing with a bobber I just about lost it and knocked him out. People are crazy will always be crazy but seems more and more out there now.

I've seen lots of awful things done to landowners property. It is a shame - and I certainly can't blame someone for posting when that happens

You have every right to post your property even if those sort of things you stated above didn't happen. With that being said, I would have done the same thing if I was receiving the sort of treatment you and your family is getting. Sorry to hear that, but like a lot of the other posters have stated, stream etiquette is getting scarce these days.

Glad you posted it. Your family and property should be top priority; fishing and being nice is secondary.
If you have a string of guilt or whatever for posting, I would recommend putting a few signs up stating why it was posted. "Due to people, on my land, being rude to my family, leaving trash, and being generally discourteous, this property is closed for the season." Add a line about possibly opening it again next season to see if things have changed, if you prefer.

I can't say that I blame you. I will likely also post my property before deer season. In Ohio you must have written permission to hunt so one wound thing we wouldn't need signs to control access.
As far as disrespectful behavior in general, I understand what you are saying there, too. Take care. Dave

I don't blame you for posting it. Kids...and now the adults they have become have no respect for anyone or anything. I got a dirty look in church the other day for telling a 15 year old kid to get his feet off the back of the pew. I always tell my kids if you didn't buy it and pay for keep your damn feet off it.
You own the land and have every right to want anyone who uses it to show the same care and respect that you do. If some can't do that much. Then they can stay off your land.

You are fortunate to have a decent trout stream running through your property. Most people are not and it has nothing to do with how kind and hardworking they are.

Most of the around town stuff I see as non-applicable. Nonetheless, the stuff with your kids is terrible and very applicable, and you have every right to post. It sucks, but can't say I blame ya.

Penn, I would have to disagree kind maybe, but hard working yes. Worked for my Masters while having a job and kid, worked 12 hour days to start my business, now I can afford the property that I have. Karma I believe in and being Kind gets you far in life.My family was left with a piece of property in sea isle, because I would not charge a gentleman and his wife for meals when they came in to eat weekly. He was a Vet and i loved his stories and we always had a beer together. Just my thought process
