I have a friend looking to buy a new pair of waders. He would rather by felt bottoms. Has anyone heard of any movement in the PA. fish commission to outlaw felt bottoms in the near future.

They're banned in Maryland and some other states/areas....but I doubt it will ever happen in PA.

There is no movement to going to a ban on felts in PA. How are they going to stop itfrom being carried by wading birds and dropped in PA. Still the manufacturers are discontinuing the production of felt soled shoes. But you can clean the boots and still tranfer rock snot by not cleaning you waders. They've all got neoprene for the foot.

If you're in the market for new waders/boots, why WOULD you buy felt soles? I live in MD, and I had to make the switch last year, and I've found that my new rubber-soled boots are AWESOME. They allow me the ability to fish anywhere, and they're much better to hike in. Unless you never want to travel anywhere new, why wouldn't you want that flexibility?

The prices on them are certainly down.

Have not heard anything about a felt ban in PA - hope they never do it, I'm going back to felts thiis year.

Hey ilovebrookies,

Have you used the rubber soles in the Savage? if so how did they work for you?
I had terrible luck with rubber soles there last year and had always felt secure in my felts prior to that.
Maybe it's just my particular brand/style that isn't good there.

Thanks
