This is the second time I caught one like this... both were big-uns well over 20"...... Guess I can skip feeling guilty about having it for dinner tonight then?

We stock our TU stream twice each Fall and the 1st thing those bows do is make redds and spawn. I have not fished PA stockers, but It does not surprise me.

Exactly! That why you have to take your fancy crackers and a mother of pearl knife with you on the stream....to enjoy your fresh caviar

I caught a fat 18 inch rainbow friday morning in the deep run below the kiddie pool at the Little Lehigh. When I netted it, the net was full of eggs. He was obviosly an escapee from the hatchery, so I originally assumed the fish had been eating sucker spawn. However, after looking at the pics from the sucker spawn thread, these were not yellow like the sucker spawn eggs. They were more of a clear but cloudy biege consistency. Maybe the rainbow was attempting to spawn?

I'd have to imagine it doesn't get any fresher than that!

One of the 14" rainbows I caught on Thursday last week had a mouth full of the same cloudy beige roe. The individual eggs were about 3/32" diameter. I put on a beige sucker spawn and couldn't keep the trout off of that fly.
