Anybody ever build a net? A friend of mine gave me some Mahogany left over from a project which I think would be a nice wood to work with. Any pictures/directions would be welcomed.

I made a net in highschool. Obviously it's no Brodin, but it does the trick!

I've built a couple - like a lot of things it's easier with the right shop equipment. With some practice and some nice grade woods one could build a very classy net (although I probably wouldn't fish with it as I'm very tough on landing nets).
Here's a pic of a net I built from scratch (except the bag) for brookie fishing. The net is only about a foot long. It's walnut handle; can't remember the wood used for the hoop. Attach file:  Small net.jpg (65.11 KB)

I've bought a couple of handmade nets and I've known guys to make them I'm not a woodworker so I have no interest in doing it myself.

hey now thats a thought..funny i never even considered building a net...i build custom recurve and longbows as a hobby......might have to give this a whirl also...
