What possesses videographers to use sech horrible music on fly fishing videos? I could watch because of the noise. Oh, and the jumble of images detracts from the message.

I thought that was a pretty cool video. The music didn't bother me at all, and I thought it matched the editing and videography quite well.

Each person is entitled to his/her own tastes as far as art goes, but I thought there was a good amount of effort and thought that was put into this and I also found it to be very informative and demonstrative as well.

As someone who works in TV, I would recommend investing in a quality microphone. It was hard to hear you over the sounds of nature. There's a saying in the business, "good audio is audio you don't notice"...or something like that.

Good work though, I liked this.

Dear Board,

Y'all are some crusty old coots.

He's 20 years old and he's doing something he enjoys, and he's trying to help other people enjoy it.

Cut the kid some slack and give him some credit for trying.

He could be shortchanging you at McDonald's when your order the ODB combo right?

He isn't though, and I for one, appreciate his efforts.

Regards,

Tim Murphy

I didn't watch the video but wouldn't this post be considered advertising his guide service especially since it is his first post on the board ?

Tim, I usually agree with everything you write. I slightly disagree here. Yes, it would appear that his fly fishing efforts are keeping him from causing some trouble elsewhere and it seems that most of us appreciate that.

But should we be nice just because he's 20? It's like my kids soccer team where the team gets trophies even though they were 3-9 for the year (of course there was no keeping score) and on each trophy it had the kids name and the title "MVP", even the portly overweight kid who couldn't run the length of the field and only showed up for 2 games.

If you are going offer a video for the fly fishing community it should probably be appealing to 40 year old white males. Marketing 101.

The sport does need younger blood and I appreciate his involvement.

If he comes to the Susquehanna he has a seat on my boat.... as long as he doesn't bring his Ipod.

Dear CPR,

I can't argue with anything you said, I was mostly trying to get a rise out of Chaz.

tried watching it.
music sucked, so i turned speakers off. the choppy jerky vid made me motion sick.
thinking just the sounds of nature would have been a better sound track.

I'm with the crustys.
Why the music and jumping frames?
but if Op is open minded he can get ideas for his next vid.

video was a little over-edited, but i liked the bug point of view camera work when describing the life cycle of mayfly, funny stuff....however, opening music was putrid, will turn a lot of people off with that crap, and try to wear your hat correctly, thats annoying too
