Stonefly?

Saw this guy on the LL yesterday. Ive never seen a stonefly but this kinda looked like some pictures ive seen on the net. White patches on wings though?

Was about 2" long...

I've never seen white patches on wings, but it looks like a large stonefly. Maybe it got hit with falling bird poop.
 
That would be called a "fish fly"

Ok so what i got from that link was its an adult helgrammite?
 
It's a fish fly, not sure about species, but they are pretty common, though not abundant.
Not an adult hellgramite, it is a different species. Hellgramite adult is a dobson fly.But they are in the same family of flies.
 
I think that is an alderfly - related to the dobson fly, but not as big and nasty. I saw them flying around the Gunpowder and tribs last year. I too thought they were stoneflies. If you catch one, they have very aggressive mandibles! They don't hurt, but can definitely latch onto you.
