I was out at Dutch forks in Washington Co. fly fishing yesterday when some type of hatch occurred. At the time I didn't think any thing of it until fish started going crazy. I didn't take any pics, no camera with me but they seem to be grey in color and pretty small. I am new to fly fishing and have no clue what it could have been. Most hatch information I could find doesn't really talk about western PA so I was curios if anyone on here would be able to take a guess at what it could be.

Kill,
Based on your description, it's virtually impossible to identify the insect without pics. It was probably a caddis, "Blue Winged Olive" or midge but we would need much more accurate description. If you're back there again and see 'em, try to catch one or two for photos.

check out troutnut.com to help with bugs. should give a decent idea as to what you saw.

my guess is caddis.

moth-like and clumsy?
