Not sure if its they were cranes or not but i put on a fly that matched this morning and killed them. Caught 5 had another 4 on and about 6 strikes that didn't hook up. Ill take that all day for a 2.5 hour trip.

Hey! This is a family forum, blur out picture #2 next time!

Crane flies it is! They're hatching on a lot of streams this time of year.

Yep Crane flies.

Any idea what type of Crane Fly?

I know of at least two different Crane Flies

It's a cranefly. Hard, and not really necessary to ID individual species (at least for an angler).

Here is a link for keys in IDing species from PA. You may need a microscope, or at least a strong magnifier:

What I call an orange crane fly, it's about the color of a sulphur. My pattern for it is post on the message board somewhere. I tie it in a #18 and later in the year a #20.
