After years of tolerating a pos reel seat on a Frost 7' bamboo rod that I like to use, I decided to tackle replacing it. The original seat is plastic so I used a dremel with a cut-off wheel and sliced grooves down to the core but it didn't let go. I tried a hair dryer to introduce heat but it wasn't quite hot enough so I pulled out a socket on a stand with a red flood in it from christmas and rotisserated the seat slowly over it , touching the bulb to the plastic seat until faint wisps of smoke started appearing and sure enough the old seat popped off. Sweet and no damage to the handle, I already sourced a nos all metal seat the same size and style and have some u-40 rod bond on the way, so alls I need is to add a winding check and glue it up. Total time will be about 1 hour. After all these years , I can't believe I didn't try that sooner.

Too late for before pics but I'll take some of the core and the lamp set-up before I glue it up .
