Hello, I am new to fly fishing. A friend of mine Gfig and The Sasquatch were fishing at Hammer Creek in Lancaster, PA. They both have rods around 6.5'. I currently have an 8.5' and would like to get something a little smaller. Any recommendations on web sites or stores where I can get a good deal? Does anyone have one they are willing to part ways with? I am looking to get it on the cheep side since I am new.

Thank you!

There he is!
I'm sure there is someone out there willing to give you good info....gotta get those brookies in the tough waters!

I was actually rockin' an 8' rod that day!

My small stream rod is an Eagle Claw Featherlight

I actually line it w/ 6wt line. Get a cheap click/pawl reel (you can find Martins on Ebay for the cheap) and you're good to go. It's rugged, cheap, and fishes just fine.

Nice, I will be making a purchase very soon. Thank you sir!

I use the TFO Signature Series II in a 6', 2-wt. for small stream affairs:

I just picked up an Echo Carbon 663. Fished it today and even in the wind it handled well.

+1 on the Echo Carbon
What's your budget?

Check out JP Ross Fly Rods. I purchases a 5' 2 wt. from him last year and it is awesome. Love it for small streams.
