I have the 4wt line on my trout reel and it has been fantastic. No complaints here whatsoever.

I myself always clean my new fly line before putting it on the reel.

Just wanted to put in a good word for the XL reel. I am very impressed with this reel. I haven't been able to use the drag on it yet. It is definitely worth the money. It looks sharp on my March Brown rod. Seems like it will last. Was easy enough to switch the retrieve. I will be getting the 5/6 in the future for my other rod.

I also bought two of the cases with the middle leaflet and was very impressed. One was a present for a friend and he had a hard time believing the price that I paid for them.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to send a new release out letting everyone know what is coming out and what to expect.

1. Trout Series – The new design is doing well. They will be back in stock in 7-8 days. I’m sticking with Gunmetal and Black for colors right now. However, I am going to have a green and red colored reel made in the future.

Also, I am making a 3/5, 7/8 (steelhead), and 9/10 (salmon) in the Trout series. These should be done and ready before the steelhead start running.

2. XL Series – This reel has made a good showing on the first generation. The new and improved reel will be ready shortly. It will be available in 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8.

The 5/6’s will have both options of a silent retrieve and a click retrieve. Also, the 7/8 in this series will have a cork drag. For those that prefer cork over carbon.

3. Rods – This has been a hot topic. I am working on a new rod for the last several months. Been testing and rebuilding until I am 100% fine with it. What I can tell you , is that it started at 3.2oz in a 9’, 5wt, 4pc. Seven months later its at 2.45oz.

Once it is ready, I will start with a 5wt, 9’, 4pc rod.

4. Saltwater Reel – I’m pretty excited about this. I will release 3D prints in a few weeks. The reel will be in a 7/8, 9/10, and 12/14 wts. The drag is a multi disk drag. The prints that I will release soon might change when the finished product is done.

I am prototyping a 9/10 wt reel and looking for the biggest fish possible for testing. I’m positive this reel will be a contender in the big game reel selection when its all done.

Well, that’s all for now. As always, contact me if you are interested in any product.

Thank again,

Justin “Allen”

Nevermind. Read it wrong. Thought you were putting custom graphics on reels.

I'm a sucker for funny coloured reels, so I wait with bated breath and wonder WTH I'll use it for.

Now, can I get you to one-off me a fancy looking skull-n-xbones ala Abel without the Abel price tag? I'll whore Allen for life, man. :)

Continued good luck with the products, I wish I had reasons to give you money, you'll be first on the list when its time to stock up on hooks.

as a follow-up, i used the allen fly line in a 5 weight and it works just fine. I could not find one negative thing about it after two uses, so PAFF members - consider supporting one of our site sponsors next time your looking to get a new line.

Just checked my iphone. Yep. It corrects coloured to colored. Flavoured to flavored. Nope, the Apple empire is not to blame for this one.

As a budding geek, the first books that really made an impression were the CS Lewis Narnia books.

I add the letter U. I can't help it. I don't say cheque, queue or any of the annoying anglophile stuff.

..still cooler. I almost pulled the trigger on it, but couldn't bring myself to spend as much making it fancy as I would've on the Abel Creek I wanted to put it on.
