Who needs a vise???

That is so cool he can do that... I love my vise, btw.

My father tied the majority of his wet flies without a vise. Most were in the size 10-14 range. I've tried it but could never get it right.

Lee Wulff used to not use a vise and tied I believe down to a sz 26 if not a 32 without one.

Read Lee Wulff, the Compleat. GREAT read.

I actually learned to tie without a vise and can still do a (somewhat decent) job of it. Streamers are pretty easy but small hackled flies look pretty flat after being tied between pinched fingers.

heavily waxed thread is key

heard of some old school guys burrowing the hook into a tree branch and tying away. Or using forceps as a vise. NEAT, but Ill stick to the Regal.

I learned from Lee, still do it for demos and shows. The colonial angler does them without a vise..makes his own hooks too.
