First time i tried this style, and not too difficult to tie
Head could be tighter with no gaps in the buck tail, but i'll swim this one.

I think this is the first time you've posted a fly where I thought, "I could tie that!"

I have tied and fished the Thunder Creek Style for quite a while, I have had some wonderful days with them! Especially the rainbow trout one!

Nice. Fulsher could tie some great hairwings for Atlantic salmon too.

That brings back memories. Fished them extensively in brook and brown trout colors back in the 70s. I'm heading for the vice.

You guys ever try them for smallies? I made a few out of that green color (chartrucewhateverthehellitis) and had some fun last summer.

Eunan - you can get it a lot tighter with a biro tube.

tye the bucktail forwards as usual. then gently push the tube over the eye of the hook and catch the hair in.

then pull it back real tight and pinch the 'head' between your right thumb and forefinger.

use both hands to smooth back the hair as flat and as tight as you can then bind the head.

then cover in hard as nails or flexament to protect it from teeth.

white and chartreuse works great - or blue and white...
