Mayflies With Medallion Sheeting Wings

I have recently started tying mayfly patterns with medallion sheeting for the wings. I started doing it last year for Adams parachutes and this winter I have started using it for BWO wings. I would post pics but unfortunitely my camera is junky and won't focus on them that well.

Has anyone here tried this before?

Also, if anyone wants some to try out I can send them out for free. I really love to tie flies (and I tie ALOT of flies) so right now my fly boxes are at critical mass so I need to get rid of some while still keeping my tying up. If anyone is interested just PM me and I will send some along.

I have used the medalion sheeting (the kind shane stalcup uses )the only problem i ran into was that the sheeting didn`t hold up well when after catching a few fish....in my opinion anways

I looked it up and theres a pic of a fly using it on the orvis site...Is it like cellophane or more like a clear swill straw?

Yes its much like cellophane, it looks good when you finish tying the fly but when i fished with it the wings lost their shape i think it might work better if used as a emerger wing were it doesn`t need to retain its shape

Yah TOMGAMBER that is a similar pattern except that I am using the material as the post for parachutes or for smaller wings over the back of the fly. I was having a similar problem as JRCLL mentions with the flies holding up but I started treating them with a permanent floatant before fishing them and it really seemed to help out. I just like the realistic look of the wings and I know from personal experience that they catch fish, but I just want to know how other people feel about this style cause we all know that what is pretty doesn't always work.

Where do you find that material? I'd really like to use that on several patterns.

Wmass was kind enough to send me some samples. The flies look outstanding. Unfortunately, my pictures don't do his handywork justice.

Here are some links to them.

Kudos on some great flies and thanks again for sharing!
