I spotted this fly on a recent trip to Allenberry and I would like to tie it for a swap I participate in. However, I can't find any tying instructions or even a materials list on the Net. Is it in any of Joe's books?

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

FWIW - the version that FFP sells doesn't look the same (to me).

Thanks in advance for any help offered!!

Hhmmm....
It looks to be just a generic style nymph with hackle legs and wing case of primary feather; body appears to be a tightly dubbed cream fur. The mystery of course are the prominent gill filaments tied in along the shank. It looks a bit stiff for marabou - maybe a synthetic para wing post material(?).

Go to the link below. It is an ebook by Charlie Meck with photo, recipe and instructions for tying Joe H's Green Drak nymph.

Scroll to page 41-43.

Afish:

That's an interesting take but definitely NOT the fly I saw at Allenberry unless I am missing something on pages 41-43.

Also, Steve S at FFP ties and sells the pattern http://www.flyfishersparadiseonline.com/category_s/2097.htm

I talked to him at the Somerset show last year. He probably will be there this year...just ask him.
