I have a some excess woodduck feathers in my shop and want to dye some of them any suggestions on what color. I was thinking a light yellow or sulpher color for some. I am not sure what else I want to use any suggestions appreciated. Fred

Dun
Bronze
Green
Or sell them on e-bay, some people pay top $ for good wood duck.

hey before anyone starts to lecture me on the evils of dying woodduck feathers I meant to say mallard barred flank feathers. so now the question still stands. I did dye some a sulfer yellow color using a.k. bests recipe and they came out pretty nice. I was just wondering what other colors would be good for wings or tails on other flies. thanks Fred

I was going to say that it seems kinda wasteful to dye good wooduck feathers. They're just naturally so nice for march browns.
But I 'd dye away on the mallard flank.
Leave some as is however, for grayfox and light cahill

fred,
try some bright orange to see the fly better..
