Sunlight will even do it - it's just slower. How fast it works depends on how intense the light is and how fresh your batteries are. The CCG lamp definitely works faster with fresh batteries.

Each of the UV resin products that are available today are designed to be cured under slightly different wavelength UV lights. That means that each product will cure the best with the light designed for that product. If you use a light that emits UV light that is at a slightly wrong wavelength, the resin might not cure correctly. If you use a generic light to cure your resin, you might want to stick your flies out in the sun for a while. This will make sure that it cures properly.

I've used Rio, Loon, and CCG and all will cure under the little Loon light (which does take a while) or the cheap $4 amazon one. If I'm tying something with a lot of epoxy I will still just put it in the sun for a while after tying to be safe.
