I have a Regal Clamp vise. Is there a way it could be converted to
a pedestal model with a shortened stem etc. If so where could I obtain the necessary parts and how could I make the conversion?

It's all here...

I bought a regal clamp model - about $50 cheaper than one with the base if I remember correctly - and converted it to fit the base from my old thompson vise myself. Just used a 3/8" die - which I was able to borrow from work - to thread the stem.
I didn't cut the stem before threading it though. It sits a little higher than a store bought vise, but it fits me fine. I'm 6 feet tall with long arms.

I figured on doing that, turns out I like it better clamped.

The Regal clamp is nice and beefy, added one of those vise arms so I can sort of manipulate it a bit and I prefer the whole thing now so I can lean back in a chair and swing it out for me to work on it.
