Hey Guys,
On March 19th I am having a meeting for work in Carlisle, PA for a portion of the day. I would love to attempt to fish the LeTort because I have heard so much about it. I would appreciate ANY tips on what to throw, or where to go. PM me!! I hear that it is super tough, but would love to give it a shot. Thanks, Steven

Steven,
There's a great deal of discussion about this stream here on Paff. Have you tried searching the site? There was an extensive "How do I fish Letort?" thread just recently. Letort

in terms of toughness, how would you rate the letort compared to spring creek in state college?

I fish both these waters pretty extensively and regard Letort as much tougher than Spring Creek. There are - of course - all manner of ways in which a stream is "tough." The Letort is much more difficult physically; the ground is soft, grass is tall, water is slow and weedy and fish lay low under cover. In Spring Creek, by contrast, you can wade on the hard bottom and it's an easy nymph stream wih runs and current Spring also seems to have a lot more surface activity. Fish will hold a station near the surface and you can present to them. I find these aspects much less common on Letort. With respect to the actual selectivity of the fish, I think they're about the same. I suspect Spring Creek fish see a lot more flies over the course of a season and may be a bit more selective. But to actually catch fish - Letort is much tougher.

A successful day of fishing on the Letort is a poor day on Spring.

Agreed, but a successful day on the Letort is much more memorable!
