Today was the Fox's solo foray in on-stream instruction for a group of neophytes.

He met up with us at the Little Lehigh Heritage section and provided hours of good advice and instruction on fly fishing. He started the afternoon with some casting instruction, transitioned to on and in the water lessons. The Fox was showing us nymphing, dry and streamer techniques.

He even included entomology as part of the lessons! Hopping into the stream and gathering an insect sample to review with us.

I have to bet he lost a few pounds jogging up and down the LL, doing his darnest to have us all take a fish. He spent time working with Kyloe, Stagger-Lee, Steve, RCFetter and myself on the water. (whoever I missed, chime in!)

Delta Dog and Volksnurse came along with the kids who were probably better behaved than the crew with fly rods in their hands!

I was successful with a nice rainbow that Fox said was likely a hold-over due to it's size. It was a nice cure for the skunk I had taken on Friday.

Tom and I headed out around 3 so that Tom could get to a dinner event this evening. Fox was working with Stagger-Lee, trying to get him on a fish as we were leaving.

Great afternoon spent with new friends on and off the water. Thanks to Fox for giving up his afternoon to educate us!

Dave

Nice fish Dave! Congrats!

And "First Annual Foxgap Foray" implies more....we don't have to wait a year for the next one do we?

I dont know about the KIDS in waders but my kids had a blast today. We did our best trying to fatten up those fish at the hachery. I just cant believe how ED gave us the shaft today but atleast we know that Foxgap is loyal to us newbies. Thanks George

It was a very nice day and as I noted in the "0 for 2" thread, Foxgap's help is greatly appreciated.

Hey DJS, I forgot to ask what you were using to catch that nice rainbow.

Bob

Nice rainbow Dave, was a lil down stream when you got it then I came up & scared them all away!

Great seeing you all out there today. Special thanks to Fox! For a hungover drunk you did a great job helping us all out and really helped me gain some confidence on the cast as well as help me understand some basics on the water .. MUCH APPRECIATION for you time and effort

@ Delt & Volk; pulled out of the parking lot and took a quick walk around the hatchery. Will defently be taking my kids there this spring when we hit Dorney Park for the day ..... pretty sure I could land my first fish fishing that place

Also Delt .. 2nd time putting my rig together w/out a problem (since you helped my at the Jam) as well as getting better at the clinch knot. In 2 outings I only lost one fly do to a poor not .. lost another on a branch today

Had a great day and it was nice seeing you guys again and meeting some for the first time.

Hey Stagger I wish my mind wasn't so preoccupied with the kiddos today I had a bunch of flies for you but I totally forgot to give them to you. I'm sure I'll see you again. Who knows you keep at it and before you know it you'll be tying your own flies.

I showed up around 3:30. Sorry guys, but I DID warn you all in advance I couldn't make it until the afternoon. It was a mandatory overtime thing at work. I really hate third shift!!!

Many thanks to the Fox for taking charge of this day. I knew the newbies would be in good hands.

That's going to be up to the Fox. I think we may have worn him out on Saturday!

I was surprised at the size of the fish when I landed it. I really liked the colors of it. Some bows are so bright and this one was just pretty!

Thanks to the guys that came up. I enjoyed working with each of you, I'm just sorry I couldn't spend more time with each of you. I saw improvement in each guy that I worked with yesterday. All had great questions and incredible attitudes. It was also great meeting each of you and putting faces with ID's.
