I've been working for a few months now on my own rod and reel company. I'm just weeks away from the grand opening and wanted to share what's going on at Risen Fly.
First off is I owe a lot of gratitude to this forum. I've met some great people, learned a whole lot about fly fishing and have passed my knowledge on to many people. I plan to repay that by offering discounts to you guys that are a little better than everyone else. My initial discount for everyone is 30% off, but I'll offer 40% to PAFF members. Just PM me here or email me at risenflyco@yahoo.com for any ordering and I'll make sure you get the extra discount. Now on to the fun stuff. I'm just building from the ground up so my products will be a bit limited to start, but will constantly be expanding. So keep in touch! My website is up and running, but I'm just waiting for my products to arrive to open it to the public. For a sneak peek check out my website HERE! password is cewtsu. Here's a list of the products I'll have. (more details on the website) "Ichthus" machined aluminum reels in black and gunmetal 3/4 $140 discounted to $84 5/6 $145 discounted to $87 7/8 $150 discounted to $90 9/10 $155 discounted to $93 "Anakim" machined aluminum reel with 100% waterproof drag system in black 7/8 $260 discounted to $156 9?10 $270 discounted to $162 WF Fly lines in Green, Yellow, and Orange. 3wt to 8wt $25 discounted to $15 backing in 20lb and 30lb colors white and orange all 100 yards $7.50 discounted to $4.50 Nippers with eye cleaner and tying tool $5 discounted to $3 In the near future I plan to offer a few fly boxes. 2-3 plastic waterproof boxes, and working with a local woodworker to make a handmade wooden fly box. I'll also have nets and a few more accessories in the next few months. Rods will hopefully be by the end of 2013. I'm testing a few blanks now. Keep in touch and ask any questions. Ryan

Ryan, PM me if you can. I don't seem to have permission to PM you. I think I'd like to try one of your 3/4's.

Okay I've been thinking for almost 24 hours now of a snappy comeback to that one Ryan, but I got nothing. Thought of something like;
"Yeah well...Zebco called. They want their rod action back."

Lookin' at some of that orange fly line, for no other reason than the price and its orange. It would look HOT on my Fenwick (mid 60s, Ryan! Do you sell silk?)

Thanks Afish! Been working pretty hard to get out a quality product. It's been a lot of fun so far, and I hope that continues. I only seem to talk a lot when it comes to fishing for some reason...

Ryan sent me some of his 6wt fly line to use. I put it on my Fenwick and used it this past weekend. Besides the orange looking AWESOME, it casts really nicely. I'll definitely be purchasing more lines in different weights in the near future. Is it just me, Ryan, or is the diameter a little thinner than other 6wt lines? I had the SA Air Cel on prior to this line, and this line seems just a shade thinner. I'm not complaining, you see, 'cause on glass the guides are smaller than graphite rods. Its actually a benefit to me.

I've been thinking of getting a micrometer to do some measurements on it. Lines can be of varying thicknesses and the process to make them may differ, but the taper and weight of the line will help achieve the best results for the appropriate line weight. I haven't used an air cel line before, but I'll assume that it has a different technology to apply more air into it's lines for better floatation and thus more thickness to the line.
I will be offering a Premium line sometime next year to compare to some of the top end lines. The Alpha line that you have is more of an entry level line, just at a more reasonable price.
