I'd like to meet you guys at the Breeches, if I can get a reprieve. I'll be at Allenberry the 10th through the 12th for the Reel Recovery Retreat.

Matt

Dave,

Matt and I are planning on being there tomorrow morning. The fishing is shaping up to being a bust, but the Battlefield tour, lunch and the Flyfishing museum all sound cool. Looking forward to it.

See you guys tomorrow morning at 8:15 at the Visitor Center. We didn't get much rain, so local water levels probably should be fine.

A good time today!
We got around the park before the crowds and weather was perfect. After lunch, we drove up to Boiling Springs and checked out the new FF museum. Nobody joined us at The Run - I got a few there but mainly we fished main stem Breeches. Conditions were good and, surprisingly, not crowded. There was a steady pick of sippers under the trees and we stuck a fair share. I did a long line release on a brown over 20 inches. The fish were selective (as usual) but small terrestrials did the trick. When I left, a couple guys were still fishing. Pics below show DC 410 and Gfoldec.

Great day Dave's tour was very informative. We were given a real insight into what happened in the battle at Gettysburg. Beautiful day great company. Fishing was a little slow but all in all a great day. Thanks Dave.

Thanks for organizing the whole day, Dave. I enjoyed every aspect of it. The tour was well done and very informative. The PA fly fishing museum has some great memorabilia about many of PA's greatest fly fishing personalities and was well worth the visit. Finished up the day fishing over some very picky fish at the Breeches but we did manage to fool a few of them and that was cool! My son and I enjoyed the time on the battlefield and the stream. Great day!

Here are a few photos from the Gettysburg and Cumberland Valley -Mini Jam.

(1) Dave explaining to the group about one of the Confederate cannons located near the Peace Memorial on the northern end of the Battlefield.
(2) The view looking east from Seminary Ridge. This was the Confederate position at the start of "Picketts's charge".
(3) The view looking west off of Little Round Top. Devil's Den is located near the center of the photo.
(4) Dave is pointing out some of the landscape features visible looking west off of Little Round Top.
(5) The view looking south down Cemetery Ridge. Many Union regiment monuments are located where the Union forces were positioned.
(6) A water snake takes advantage of a warm piece of rebar on a stream improvement structure on the Yellow Breeches Creek near Allenberry.
(7) FI tutoring Matt (my son) on the value of a good upstream mend on your fly line. If you didn't have a good natural drift you weren't catching many fish on Saturday! That's gfoledc in the background.

Thanks again Dave, for a great outing!

Dave,

Thanks for the tour and putting this together. We had a great time. My son caught six different species. His best was a 16" holdover brown.

gfoledc,

Thanks for allowing us to ride with you during the tour.

> surprisingly, not crowded

I would hate to see what crowded looks like.

Yeah, "crowded" is a relative term. It did seem to me that there weren't many fishermen around......based on what I'd expect to see on Breeches in June. Down at Allenberry, at mid day, the ladies FFing seminar was underway so there were a lot of fishermen down by the pavilion for awhile (glad to see a good turnout for the ladies event). It did seem like more anglers were coming in when I left at about 7:30 PM.
