I joined some bait chucking friends for fishing yesterday. We ended up at the Yough around 11:30 AM between the bridges below the tailrace. There were black midges coming off for the first few hours and then starting around 2:30 PM I started seeing a dark brown caddis. The body was abot #16 or #14. The wings were dark brown and the body a more tannish color. The fish were rising and probably were grabbing emergers. I had luck with a dry caddis when it was twitched mostly. Also dropped a dark brown bead head soft hackle and got a few off the dropper. The water was quite cold and the air temps went from low to mid 60s. I left at about 7:00 PM with caddis still hatching. The caddis activity was in spurts across that time period. Skies were over cast and there was a little light rain off and on.
