Doubling up is a good idea as well. I picked up the hardware to make a couple this afternoon.

Friends. I tried another tactic, and I am new to the toon. I used a Kayak the past two years. Out west flippers are really big. You use them to position yourself closer or further from the bank to keep a good distance.

I found that by sitting on the seat, or the standing platform, with my boots in the water, that with very slight kicks and leg movements I could change position very easily.

Now with big boots, you do not have the mobility of having fold up flippers, but I was surprised at how well I could position myself in relation to the bank, with very little effort.

So I wound up fishing standing on the platform, sitting in the seat, or sitting low on the standing platform. The good thing about the Scadden is that there are two feet supports. So if you are in shallow water, just pick your feet up and put them on the supports.

Any fisherman that forgets their waders gets a pass. Considering all of the things we hve to bring, it is a very easy oversight.

Bungees to tow a person when they forget their oars? Are you kidding me? Nobody's dumb enough not to bring their oars.... are they? :)

But not bringing Oars? Give me a break. Shred their license.

Hey, word to the wise. I think they passed a law that on the Delaware we need to be wearing a PFD while fishing. Keep that in mind. Not a dumb law.

Hey! For you information, I don't even have a NY license!

If you are saying that all people fishing the D must wear a PFD, then yes it is a dumb law. Now if I have to have one on my boat that is ok. If I have to wear one while in transit, then that's ok. But saying I have to wear one while fishing . . . just stupid.

I think you need to wear a PFD from October 1 until May 1st I believe. And this is true as we got stopped in March and got read the riot act. We had PFD's and had to dawn them the rest of the way. It sure sucked wearing one of those dumb orange (around the neck) versions while trying to cast a fly rod...:)

I think that (PFD must be worn from October 1-May 1)) is true now within the NPS Upper D Scenic & Recreational River boundary. You've always needed to have onboard one PFD for every passenger. Wearing one is no big deal to me, I've only ever taken mine off once while floating. Every guide I know makes their clients wear one at all times in the boat.

Wearing them is a pain in the a**.. It is not necessary on one of the placid rivers in the world (Delaware and branches)... I think the rule is dumb, if people aren't comfortable they can wear them, otherwise who cares. Kind of like a helmet on a motorcycle...

I've never seen a guided boat wearing PFD's from May to Oct...

So what's the verdict? You have to WEAR a PFD if you are in/on a boat period? Waders have to wear a PFD? Couldn't a wader drown just as, if not more easily than a boater?

They make small ones you can wear on your person that inflate with CO2 when needed. I'm not sure about the requirements, but if you must wear one, I'd go that route so you don't look like a pumpkin on the river...

Bam, right - the inflatable is the way to go.

You have to wear one when in the boat from Oct 1- May 1. Outside of that you just have to have one for each person in the boat.

Alpa, What do you mean by your comment - Not if you have a guides license?

I floated in April and just held up the one in the back of the pontoon when questioned by PFC guy. No issues.

Ya, but i think the conversation is more about the NY regs, not the PBFC. I know PBFC only requires one on board.

Hey, all law enforcement guys understand the middle finger. "catch me pig" is the required phrase when they try to stop you. LMAO

I am not saying that to a enforcement agent while I am floating along in an inflatable raft at 6 mph.
