Fished from 5:30 till dark. Caught 1 at Reber's Bridge then moved to Paper Mill Hole. Had 4 hooked at Paper Mill. All snapped my line. I had a 13ft 5x leader on with no tippet and they still snapped it. I belive I got a bad leader. I'll change it tonight for Saturday.
Water was a bit high and green. All hit on white crystalflash wooly buggers being dead driffted with a small splitshot on. There were some risers at Paper Mill right at the mouth of the Coccossing (sp?) Looked like some nice sized (#16 maybe) black midges were in the air.

At 13 feet..why not just cut it back and add tippet? Heck, most of the guys one here get their leaders from the ground in parking areas and rebuild from there...right Mo?

Tom,
It's called prefernce. I like long leaders. If I didn't I'd buy a shorter leader and add tippet instead of cutting a perfectly good leader back.

ryanh,
It's a formula that I belive some people use to measure trout. You need a hobby. How about fishing? Kidding.

Really, "preference" never heard that word before...I was recommending an alternative to throwing it away as you suggested you were going to do...so build it back to 13 ft. Length has nothing to do with it. You only need to replace the last couple of feet anyway.

Try not to be such a little snotty punk when people try to help you.

tom,

You have got to be kidding me. This is about the 3rd or 4th time you've replied to a post of mine in that manner. And it always comes from you first. What the hell is your problem. Anger issues? Wife leave you for another woman?
Tell you what, you see a post of mine, don't reply. Ignore it. I'll do the same for you.

Sorry 'bout that...I was in a pissy mood. It was uncalled for. I read more into it than was obviously there.

Sal.

It takes patience and a little method. Take the coiled leader out, put four fingers of your left hand in the center, begin pushing the butt end which is twisted around the coil through until untwisted and then carefully pull it away from your left hand until you get to the end. Easy isn't it?

Or you could do like my brother does and just start pulling at it and thow it on the ground when it gets knotted...be sure to add an expletive or two.

Don't worry though...I'll pick it up and use it so it won't go to waste.
