Thanks again Swattie, I use that park to train my Dobermans and my clients dogs and I often see people walking past with fishing poles so I think I will check it out.

Nice Phish Fish!

I mean Fish Phish.

I wish it wasn't calling for spotty showers this weekend. That could blow my best SM creek, then again a sneeze can blow Lancaster streams out lol. Its been cool still, so the spawn is for sure delayed.

I want to float the Swatara this year but that comes later. I wanna see the big one pop a popper in the middle of summer.

P.S.
This site needs more warm water reports guys.

Lots of fish out there. I need another rod to target bigger fish lol.

Very good tread, love that creek when I get to fish it. Maybe this year will be better. Have to get the canoe out.

odizz17 that's a great smallie!!

I also wanted to introduce myself as this is my first post. I moved to the area about 2 years ago as my wife is from the area. I am from the Lehigh Valley and was very fortunate to fish the little lehigh, lehigh, delaware, etc.

I am mainly a spin cast fisherman but have been getting back into fly fishing. I have explored the swatara a little bit but mainly south near middletown area.

If anyone is willing to share a few spots to check out in the area for smallmouth and/or trout it would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to meet up as well. Thanks and see you on the water!

Atlantis,

The glen is up from the gravel hill bridge. My buddy Josh float itevery spring and aalmost always pull one or two 20" fish from the section. Anywhere from lickdale to middletown holds good bass. Definitely gets bigger the further down you go. It's always a nice creek and easy to get around once the levels drop in early summer.

Lots of water on the Swattie, but if you wait til summer levels or when the water comes down, it's much easier fishing. There are stretches that are more productive than others. It's a fun stream to fish! Anyone who has fished her on a regular basis knows where the first picture was taken.

I was able to spend a little time on the swattie before the rain yesterday. I caught a nice 14-15" smallie. I can't get the pic to upload from my phone. Any tips? Thanks

Welcome to our online community Bobert. Sounds like you got a nice bass! To upload pics, they must first be reduced in size. I just use the "web log" size range in most photo editing software. Avatar pics need to be much smaller.

Hang around and get to know the folks here - we're a nice crew (except when we're ornery- usually during long, cold winters.).

Folks are often tight lipped about where they fish and new posters soon discover that asking about fishing spots elicits fewer responses than other topics. This should come as no surprise. However, questions are welcome. We have a Beginner's Forum where folks new to the sport can ask basic questions - feel free to use it. Again, welcome.
Dave

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it. I will work on posting a pic so I am not just telling a fish story

No worries on being tight lipped, I am just relatively
new to the Hershey/Harrisburg area. I will just have to do some exploring.

See you on the water!

I fish down in Middletown at Hoffer Park with some success but need a better entry point in the area. Any thoughts?

Born and raised in Middletown. I used to go in at the Pineford apartments, and fish down from there past the bend behind the east end warehouses. Lots of ledges in the creek. Don't know what it's like there now for access. You might be able to access at the rt. 230 bridge. Oh God, spot burn!
