After reading about the Letort and thinking about going for some time, I finally made it happen yesterday. I hit the stream around 11:30 with the sun shining. I started on the upper section & fished there for about 3 hrs our so. I was quite pleased to bring 7 brownies to hand, especially after hearing the reputation of the stream. All caught on a streamer, swinging it thru the deeper pools & around the rocks. I could see many dart out to the streamer, only to turn at the last second. Had one nice fish that hit hard, only to disappear with my fly.

I then headed downstream to explore. I went down to the Quarry area & the meadows, but did more walking/observing than fishing. It's a beautiful stream laced with so much history. I will definitely be back to try my hand at this stream again. I hope yesterday was not just beginner's luck!

Here are the pics from the day. Enjoy!

Awesome man!

I fish the Letort probably more than any stream anymore.
Once you fall in love with her, she wont ever let you go.

Good Luck on your future trips!

Nice report. As can be seen, it isn't impossible for a first time Letort angler to catch fish.

Good job, glad you had a good time. Many fishermen do not like that kind of water but once you get a taste it can be addictive. I am sure you will have some not so good days but your rewards will be more meaning full. Thanks for the post.

nowhere is so sweet, as the bosom of the vale where the bright waters meet.

Yes. The only thing that might be considered to detract is the shadow from the railroad bridge in the corner, on that first one.

Or maybe I'm only saying that because I have a photo like that where the shadow is even more prominent- when I first saw it, I thought that something had happened to the mechanism of my camera. In my pic, the shadow is one big solid dark bar right across the lower left.

The shadow in that photo at least looks like it's the shadow of a bridge, and it's integrated well into the composition.

Interesting to see how the channels have changed over the seasons. At one time, those rocks just above the bridge shadow indicated an undercut- not the channel has moved out more toward the center of the stream.
