Fished from around noon til almost five. Water clear and 60 when I left. There was a nice caddis hatch (tan 14-16) coming off when I arrived, and the fish were crushing a tan pupa, especially with a little motion. Only one riser and I caught him on a tan cdc dry; my first fish on top this year. The hatch dwindled and the fish promptly stopped hitting, but not before I brought to hand a half doz. or so. I moved my truck and tried a new spot and picked up a couple rainbows in a fairly bland section. Then I moved my truck to my pet nymphing riffle/glide. First time I fished it this season and it was loaded with feisty trout. Managed about a doz. or so and proceeded downstream to some fast glides where I took another four. Fished back though my pet spot and the area that was great earlier was dead but the top yielded another four. Again I went with my 3 wt. sacrificing some hook ups for the fun of fighting fish in fast water on a light rod. What a blast! I especially enjoyed hearing how few trout were left courtesy of the spin guys. Are you serious? (John McEnroe) Nothing huge but several in the 13-14'' range.
