Still going down:

The flows from the dam are at 600 cfs today and will be at 450 for the rest of the week which will drop the river below 1000 cfs--making for great wade fishing.

We still have some weekdays open through the end of the month, so if anyone has been thinking about a trip and has the freedom to fish through the week, now is a great time to do it. The low weekday flows generally make for good dry-fly fishing.

Went out in search of caddis eaters Monday morning on foot. Found good numbers of fish eating them in super shallow water. They were on them until noon.

Peace out,

FYI, I spoke to my Dad who made it out yesterday. He's a bait/spin guy and he fished from the Ramcatt down a half mile or so. He said he couldn't keep his line in the water no matter what he threw out. This was midday and he fished four straight hours till he ran out of bait. Not a rainbow of the bunch. All browns between 12 and 18 inches, a couple of which were developing a hook-jaw. Said he got around 30 to hand.

The river will produce fish each outing if you know how to fish it, but it's something else altogether when it turns on.

That is some crazy good fishing. I think I probably saw him. I was chasing some maddening cruisers just above a guy with a spinning rod who started right where ramcat dumps in.

That he caught that many fish is one thing, but all browns is incredible. The fishing was really good yesterday. We had cloud cover and a few rain showers until four, which always helps. Glad he had a good day.

YRG,
what size caddis? Elk hairs I'm guessing?

Size 14 and 16 on the caddis. Fish your favorite pattern, I don't think they're too picky.

I'm afraid I've taken you as far as I can. Get out there and put some time in.

Use copper johns or large heavy nymphs to get down. If nothing's happening on top or underneath, work some streamers. It always seems you can run into something willing to give chase.
